Annual report 2017-18

Works done during the year:

1. Winter clothes Distribution

“Share the Warmth”

Our members and volunteers arranged to collect 200 pairs of woolen clothes from various donors and on 10th November 2017 we distributed the warm clothes to the old and needy people on the streets at nights in Siliguri and neighbouring areas. The poor people were very happy to receive cloths when in need and blessed us wholeheartedly. The smile on their face was impossible without the contribution from the common people of the town.

2. Sit & Draw Competition

“Bring a smile, once a while”

As an annual event we have started to conduct sit & draw competition for the villagers of Rangati and Jalapara Mouza in Jalpaiguri District. Alsmost 65/70 children between the age of 6 to 15 years participated in the said competition which started in the morning at 10 am on 24th December 2017. The children were provided with paper and pencil and they brought their own colours. The children were divided into three groups and each group was given a specific topic for the art work to be done. The art and the concept of the children was mind boggling. It truly depicts that India’s future is in safe hands. The children were provided with light snacks of banana, boiled egg, bread and juice. After the event category wise winners were announced and token prices were given out. Also chocolates were given to all the children who participated in the events.

3. Sports Meet

“Sports do not build character. They reveal it”

Also as an annual event we have started conducting sports meet to instill the importance of physical fitness amongst children. Sports meet for the children in the age group of 8 to 18 years was organised in Debpara Village, Banarhat to inculcate a spirit of competition and sportsmanship in children. The event saw over huge number of children participating in various events. The children were thrilled to participate in the races and winning or losing did not really matter them. The children showed extraordinary spirit, enthusiasm and discipline throughout the day. The day ended with the prize distribution ceremony. A football tournament was also organised on this occasion.

4. Nationalism Program

“Sports do not build character. They reveal it”

Children must be taught and explained about the sacrifice made by our great freedom fighters and how priceless and important this freedom and independence is for India. In order to achieve this missing Nationalism programs are conducted including celebration of 15th August (Independence Day) at Debpara village with the children of the village. All participated with great energy and flag was hoisted, after which National anthem was sung and the children were given sweets and chocolates.
